Traveling Relics
Relics needed for our travel ministry
Mission In operation since 1987
We are always looking to expand our "TRAVELING RELICS" ministry. We take 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class Relics to Catholic Schools and Parishes for viewing and veneration.
The basic knowledge of what a relic is has been lost through the generations and our mission is to educate and share with everyone we can. When we leave a school or parish, the children and adults alike are so enthused over what they just experienced that we are invited back.
Relics are to be shared, not stored in a box or on a shelf in a closet. Please help us to put these precious treasures to the use they were intended for. If you aren't sure what the class of a relic is, here are the basic descriptions for you:
1st Class - an actual piece of the body of a Saint, or holy person who may be considered for canonization (usually is hair or bone and could be a tooth, nail, etc.) and is stored in a sealed reliquary (case) with the name of the Saint or holy person inside. Paper Documentation is issued with these relics but many times are lost along the way, so we don't require documentation.
2nd Class - something that belonged to a Saint or holy person who may be considered for canonization (could be a fragment of their clothing, rosary, prayer book, etc.) and may be stored in a sealed case or just loose with some documentation or laminated on a paper holy card of that Saint or holy person.
3rd Class - something that was touched to the body (relic) of a Saint or holy person who may be considered for canonization (usually in the form of fabric or wood) and may be stored in a sealed case or laminated on a paper holy card of that Saint or holy person.
These relics vary and some come with paper documentation, but is not necessary for our purposes, but is appreciated, when you have it.
We also take holy medals, crucifixes, rosaries, statues, prayer books, holy cards, holy pictures suitable for framing and other religious articles to give away to the children and some are used to touch to the relics so the children leave with their very own 3rd Class relic.
We are always well received and the children and adults alike are very appreciative of this mission. They take this very seriously and treasure their new relics with the reverence that we teach them.
If you have or know anyone who has relics and would be willing to donate them to this important ministry, please send them to us at the address at the bottom of this page.
If you send other gently used religious articles with the relics, please be sure to separate the relics with a note attached so they don't get mixed in with other items. If you would like us to visit your school or parish, our contact information is below. Please be sure to include a contact name, physical address, e-mail address and phone # with your inquiry or request.
If in doubt as to what can be used....ask us.
You know the saying "One man's trash is another man's treasure". It's very true in this case.
The Office of the Propagation of the Faith of the Archdiocese of Baltimore knows of the work we do as well as the Archbishop's Office. Our work has been featured in the Catholic Review of Baltimore a few times, too. We are active and well known members of St. Stephen's Parish in Bradshaw MD.
If you have anything to contribute to our mission, from your personal collections, estates, yard sales, church closings or attics, please call us to arrange for pickup or delivery time to our location. Items can also be shipped to:
