Harford Senior Outings Club

A new club formed in Harford County in February 2008.  The club provides a means for Harford seniors (age 50+) to informally get together for a variety of outings in the great outdoors.  Outings include hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, birding, tubing.  The outings are whatever volunteer leaders in the club elect to lead.  The emphasis will be on outings in the county or close to the county in order to minimize driving time, expense and further excessive consumption of nonrenewable fossil fuel.  The county with its many natural and public use areas offers wonderful opportunities, including four state parks and a wide variety of county parks.  Since many seniors are retired, outings are on any day of the week.

An email list of participants is used to send out announcements of future outings for which leaders have volunteered.  There are no dues.  This is just a “bare bones” club to enable seniors to share their common interests with others in the great outdoors.

The Club has had over fifty-eight outings since February 16, 2008, including hiking, canoeing/kayaking, tubing, and biking.  Some of the outing locations have been Ma and Pa Trail, Havre de Grace area, Mariner Point Park, NCR Trail, Gunpowder Falls State Park, Susquehanna State Park, Deer Creek, Broad Creek, James Run, and Harford Land Trust property.
